In Wendell Berry's article, he discusses how the average consumer of food falls victim to big corporations who are attempting to take over the food world. He gives seven tips to "eaters" on how to eat responsibly. 1. Participate in food production. 2. Prepare your own food. 3. Learn where the food comes from. 4. Deal directly with love farmers. 5. Learn about the economy. 6. Learn what is involved in the best farming and gardening. 7. Learn as much as you can of the histories of the food species. Berry's article is more of a manual on how to eat responsibly so we, as America, can put a stop to the agricultural take-over.

Not only has the "Super Committee" been making cuts in education but
now they are coming after our food? Being a future educator I find this
to be extremely disconcerting and I am disgusted. This blog gives
valid facts about whose “belts are being tightened”: Nutrition, Job
Creation, Support for Farmers and Farmland and Food Safety. This is the
opposite of what needs to happen. With the question raised as to
whether or not the local farmers markets could yield enough produce and
meat to support the entire United States of America; this is not
possible. If we use this as part of the interviewing process, I feel we
could gain enough information to prove a valid point.

Derrick Braun, a 21-year-old student at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, took the time to do a thirty minute interview on local farming. Braun majors in Culinary Nutrition with a focus in Sustainability and Wellness. We chose him for this interview due to his background in organic bio-dynamic farming. He worked and lived on The Anthill Farm in Honesdale, Pennsylvania for a summer with his brother working for Sky Valentine, the farms owner. He is interested in exposing conventional food for what it is. We found him to be a perfect candidate for young people to relate to and express his own personal beliefs and ideas of answering our "big question".
